SaffronSierra Billing
As we move Saffron Sierra over to credit card billing and away from Amazon Payments I thought it would be helpful to put together a billing manifesto of sorts. This knowledge base article will describe the business rules that govern how a user is billed every month. Theses rules are not presented in any particular order.
- The free trial period is 30 days. This means regular billing for your plan will begin 30 days after registration.
- All users get 80 hours of service during the "free trial". This 80 hours is independent of the number of hours that are specified with the plan you selected at registration. For example, if you registered for a "Large/180" plan you will only receive 80 “free” hours in your trial period. This means that any overage during the free period will be subject to the overage rules specified below. If you were to register for an "X-Large/40" plan you still receive 80 hours during your free period. The 80 hours are also subject to the rollover rules specified below.
- You will receive an email 4 days before your first bill to give you a chance to cancel your account. If you choose to close your account before the next billing occurs you will be billed only for any overages. Overages fees are subject to the rules specified below.
- Overages fees are calculated based on the type of plan you selected at registration. Currently the overage fee for a "Large" plan is $3.00 per hour. The current overage fee for an "X-Large" plan is $5.00 per hour.
- When billing begins you will be billed for your base monthly fee for the upcoming month and any overages you incurred from the previous month.
- Your billing day is set based on the day you sign up.
- If a billing transaction fails we will send you an email informing you of the failure and requesting you to update your profile. We will attempt to re-bill you in 3 days. After 2 failed retries the your Sierra account will be closed.
- You authorize us to retain your credit card information so that we can bill you monthly.
