Amazon Payment Authorization

When you register for a Saffron Sierra account you will be prompted to authorize us to bill you via Amazon Payments. This is pretty straight forward, but the Amazon Payments screen you are taken might cause some confusion. We hope to address that here.

When you authorize us to bill you that authorization is governed in two ways. It is a time limited authorization (we create it for a year), and it limits the total amount that can be billed over the life of the authorization. This is not a per transaction limit. It is a limit for the life of the authorization. The billing limit for the authorization is calculated based on the per month fee of the Sierra plan you have selected (right now the base $99 plan is the only one that is available) multiplied by twelve.

Please note, we are not going to bill you the total of the authorization in one chunk. We will bill you per month based on your plan.

As you get close to your authorization time limit expiring we will remind you via email to renew your authorization. You can do this through the "Payment" tab on your dashboard.

If at any time you feel like we have abused your payment authorization you can login into Amazon Payments and cancel the authorization. To do this click on "Edit My Account Setting" under the "Your Account" tab. Once that page has loaded click on "Manage my payment authorizations". You should see your Sierra authorization listed. If you click on the "Details" link you'll see a "Cancel Authorization" button. If you ever decide to close your Sierra account we'll automatically cancel your authorization for you. If you do cancel your authorization, but don't close your Sierra account we will be forced to disable your account. This means you will not be able to access your service until you have a valid payment authorization.

Finally, some invite codes are created with an initial free period. When you use these invite codes you will still be required to create an Amazon Payments authorization. However, we will not use this authorization to bill you until your free period has expired.
