DNS lags service availability

Whenever I start my service, I am not able to use it for about 30 minutes due to the error "Couldn't resolve host", even though I have received the e-mail notice that the service is available. Once the hostname is resolvable, the service works as expected.

I'm guessing this is due to DNS latency. Is there a DNS server (IP address) that I can use which has low latency?

    Anthony,

You are correct this is absolutely DNS latency. There are a few things you can do.

    1. The email should report to you the EC2 address that you can use in a pinch.
    2. Try using Google's DNS servers. They tend to update much faster. The address for those are: 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4

    Thanks,
    Jared
